"The world and the gods are dead or alive according to the condition of our souls."

The Art of Soul Making...
I have been in private practice since 1983. During that time, I developed a style of working with people called Soul-Centered Psychotherapy. This approach to working with the wounds and challenges we face, restores soul as the primary focus. What this means is that I place less emphasis on the resolution of issues and more on the development of a richly textured soul life. When we listen to soul, to what is latent in the symptoms of depression, anxiety or addiction, we hear a more subtle voice calling out for attention. Only then do we come to understand the wisdom hidden in the suffering. Only then do we see what our soul has been asking of us all along. Once granted, the symptoms often abate, leaving us deepened by the encounter with soul.
I have a deep faith in the way soul/psyche works as it reveals itself through its many moods and movements, symptoms and images, how it longs for intimacy with the world and its desire for beauty. I see this every day in my work with people. Rooting our lives in the rhythms of soul offers us a way to delve into the mystery and meaning of our lives.
We often struggle, however, with the muscular demands of our culture to measure up, perform and be perfect. This leaves little room for those parts of us that do not match these expectations; the vulnerable, weak, inadequate and grieving parts of soul. And yet, it is precisely these parts of who we are that bring us closer to others, to the vitality of life and the world. Bringing these rejected and denied elements of soul-life, "those places where I said no to my life," back into our daily rhythms is what adds meaning and depth to our days.
I have worked with many concerns in my practice. I specialize in grief work, shame, addiction, depression, and men's issues. I work with individuals and couples and I offer groups periodically. I am available for phone or Zoom sessions as well. I AM NO LONGER ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS)
